Maeve Griffith

Transgender artist Maeve Griffith retired from the Spokane Fire Department in 2020, and immediately plunged full-time into a life of creation. She has, since 2014, hosted Haiku Friday. In 2021, she starred in the award-winning, one-person show I Am My Own Wife for Stage Left Theater. Maeve has a published book of poetry and a novel. She has written for, directed, and acted in numerous productions over the last 25 years, and currently produces the weekly KYRS radio show Out and About. She hosts Free Art on (the) Wall every August.

Maeveā€™s paintings are influenced by her work as a fire captain and paramedic, and took a turn when she began treatment for her job-related PTSD. They have sold across the USA and have been featured in many gallery showings. Her acrylic and oil paintings usually walk the jagged line between the absurd and the abyss.
